Service Order sheet & other prep
- Get the PowerPoint file (email, flash drive) and file it away in this folder: Documents > PowerPoints > (Year) > (Month)
- Open the PowerPoint.
- Make the service order sheet for Rick Pickell
- Make a copy of a previous service order Word document in the same folder above and rename it to today’s date. Open the file.
- Update this information on the left side of the document: date at top, scripture reference at “Worship Through Reflection” (see bulletin), opening song title, titles and scriptures of songs during the worship set, and closing song title. Copy the song titles and scriptures from today’s PowerPoint.
- Add any additional details to the service order (special music? Communion instead of closing song?)
- Copy the left side of the page onto the right side so both sides are identical.
- Print a copy for Rick Pickell (or whoever is reading scriptures).
- Save the Word document and exit.
During the 9—10 AM practice
- Turn on the front and rear projectors. The remotes are on the inside of the sound cabinet door.
- Lower the front screen. The switch is underneath the printer in the back.
- Start the PowerPoint slide show. If no image appears, make sure the front projector is turned on and set to PC.
- Keyboard shortcuts
- F5 Start slide show from beginning
- Shift + F5 Start slide show from the current slide
- Esc Stop the slide show
- As the Worship Team practices, follow along in the slide show and make any corrections or changes to the slides that need to be made. The slides should match exactly what the Worship Team will be singing. Check spelling, punctuation, and slide order.
After the Worship Team practice is over and before 10:10 AM
- Stop the PowerPoint slide show and save it.
- Start Audacity
- Make sure that the selected input at the top of the screen says Blue Icicle. If not, select it from the list.
- Press the record button and minimize Audacity.
- Start the PowerPoint slide show from the beginning (F5)
- Find a countdown video from the folder Documents > Countdowns. (Holiday-themed countdowns are stored in the Holiday folder.)
- Each file says how long it is. (If a countdown is 5m long, for example, start it at 10:10 AM.) Opening a file will automatically start it playing in VLC Media Player full screen on the projector.
- When the countdown is over at 10:15 AM, close VLC Media Player.
During the Worship Service
- Advance slides as needed during the service using the right arrow on the keyboard.
- There are times when the speaker (PD) will advance slides for you with the remote. This happens during the Morning Announcements and during the sermon (except during Scripture readings: you advance those slides while the speaker reads).
- Check in Audacity to make sure the speaker’s voice is being recorded correctly sometime at the beginning of the service. Check Audacity periodically throughout the service. If some kind of edit needs to be made, make a note of the point in time it happens at in Audacity so you can fix it later.
